Description

This contextual menu plugin is used to open a file using an application other than the files creator, by taking advantage of MacOS 8's contextual menu. The plugin can also convert creator codes and file types to suit the chosen application.

OpenUsing is compatible with Sherlock (and probably more)!

What's New in 1.6.1?

• No longer produces error when ellipsis used on folder name (ie. extended type list), but no Finder comments entered. Thanks to Jonathan Feeney for his prompt bug report!
• Wrote my own sorted list code and reduced plugin size by 10K!
• Added "Tips" section to Manual.

Future Releases

I have no further ideas for OpenUsing, so it's basically in maintenance mode. However, please email me any ideas you have. Many of the features in OpenUsing were suggestions from users.

I am interested in having OpenUsing translated into languages other than English. If you would like to donate your translation services, please contact me!

I guess the next project will be to make it work on Mac OS X!

If you think you have found a bug please file a bug report. Please relate:

• Version numbers of OpenUsing, MacOS, and any other software directly involved in the problem.
• A description of the problem.
• Details on how to cause the problem.
• Error number, line number and file name (if known).

Please let me know if you find an error in the manual, or find it difficult to understand or misleading. These are bugs too!
